Japanese Driver's License

This my friends is what a Japanese Driver's License looks like! I was surprised that it doesn't have a photo or any "official" looking symbol or stamp. Strange.
We attended the Newcomer's Orientation today at the Community center on Camp Foster today. I planned to attend myself, but once I arrived and saw all the families with kids, I emailed Mitch and told him to come and bring the kids. They did surprisingly well sitting through lectures and videos all day and were quiet most of the time. Most of the information was common sense, but there were a few things I found surprising, and I'm thankful to have young kids here and not teens!  We also learned a few things about the Japanese culture and at the end of the day took the Japanese driver's test. Trying to study for the test while listening to the speakers and entertaining the twins wasn't easy, but somehow we both passed!  Mitch took the kids back to the hotel around 3:15pm, we had stayed through nap time to take the driver's test and I went over to the base security and got my driver's license. Whoo hoo!!!
Tomorrow I will rent a car and somehow figure out how to drive on the "wrong" side of the road! Just because I passed the written test doesn't mean I know how to drive here! YIKES!  More to come tomorrow after my first day of driving.......................
