Mitch being silly as we pull through the toll booth on the Expressway. We are both still adjusting to driving on the other side of the car and road, but it actually isn't as hard as I thought it would be. It is also much easier when there are other cars around, because you just follow the cars :)
We decided last night to do some exploring now that we have freedom of transportation and decided the Okinawa Aquarium would be a great place to start. It was about an hour drive north of where we live on the island. We took the expressway most of the way, but there is a scenic drive up the coast that looks beautiful. Photo below is the cost to exit the toll portion of the expressway; 700 yen or about $9.00.
Most of the signs are in in Japanese and English, which makes things really easy. Besides the position of street signs and traffic lights, I have found most things to follow.
Photo of some of the traffic and local signs, anyone recognize the golden arches? They are everywhere here! Yes, we do know what the signs mean, they were on the driving test we passed :)
Mitch thought this billboard of this barber was goofy looking, so he took a photo.
Once we were off the expressway and along the coast, it was AMAZING, simply stunning. I remember seeing photos of Okinawa and how low and puffy the clouds look in the photos, well they look like that for real!
Sign telling us the aquarium is to the left. Again, great signs telling you where to go, and in English!
