First Day in Okinawa

We were exhausted last night when we crashed at the Westpac lodge on Camp Foster Marine base in Okinawa, Japan. However Cooper woke up a few hours later and we had to bring him into our bed to comfort him. We haven't let either of them sleep in our bed; have heard it is a really hard habit to break. It was awful, exactly like the I'd always dreaded! Cooper in the middle of the bed horizontal pushing Mitch and I off the bed and punching me in the face as he flopped around for hours.
I was surprised when they both got up around 6am, and Mitch was nice enough to take them to get breakfast so I could sleep a little longer.
My sponsor is an OR nurse here and she has been a tremendous help!  You can't drive or get a car on Okinawa until you pass the driving test and get a license; that will be next Wednesday for me. She picked us up around 9:30 and took Mitch and the kids to her house on Camp Lester where they played and watched movies while she and I took care of business.
I checked into the hospital and got my orders stamped and picked up my check in sheet, another scavenger hunt of sorts. We then drove to Kadena Air Force base and checked with PSD, they made me an appointment for next Tuesday. After that it was to the Housing office where they actually had my file and paperwork! Hurray for something being correct!  I go back tomorrow morning for the housing brief and hopefully find out when I might expect to get housing (ran into a couple today at the Westpac and they are moving into their home after being here 2 weeks.)  Not bad.
We then drove back to Camp Foster and checked with the CDC (Child Development Center) where Cooper and Mackenzie are #1 and #2 on the wait list. They gave me packets of information to complete and plan to get it completed tomorrow so that I can get them in soon.
The next thing on my agenda, get a cell phone! Christina took me to the P.X. or Marine exchange (shopping) center and I got a new iphone and data plan. Still trying to figure out my data plan for calls and text messages but happy to be back in communication.
We had lunch there while we waited for the cell phone to be activated. I actually felt like I was in the US, french fries and a steak sandwich :)  I was crashing hard after lunch so we went and picked up Mitch and the kids.  In the hotel we all took very long naps! We are now 14 hours ahead and have terrible jet lag.

Mitch had to wake up the kids so that we could go eat dinner and try to get on a schedule.  We walked down the street to the Macaroni Grill where we actually had a very good dinner.

Mackenzie was still really sleepy and just wanted to snuggle with hippo :)
Bath time and bed. Good night!
