Super Typhoon Sanba made its grand entrance the weekend of Cooper and Mackenzie's third birthday here in Okinawa, Japan. The lady that I hired to make cupcakes for their birthday party was the first to let me know a typhoon was in the making earlier in the week. We watched and sure enough a typhoon developed. However, it wasn't just any typhoon, it is a Super Typhoon, something to do with the eye of the storm and very destructive winds.
Here is a photo of the typhoon making its way to Okinawa, marked in blue. It also gives you an idea of how small Okinawa island is.
After Typhoon Bolavan, I really didn't really get too worked up about this typhoon. I was just disappointed that it made me move the twins birthday party, but it also allows me more time to get the house ready for their party. I didn't even go to the grocery store this time!
The eye of the storm is bigger than Okinawa!
We were busy Saturday celebrating the twins' Third Birthday, last post but around 5am on Sunday I was awakened to the sound of wind and pounding rain on my window. Ah, the typhoon was finally here! Within about 10 minutes of being awakened, we moved into TCCOR E, which means the winds are greater than 50 knots. I fell back asleep for about an hour before finally getting up, the noise was loud from the storm! It was quite impressive to see the typhoon during the day light. We stayed busy today playing with new things they received for their birthday including these paints from the Miller family next door.
Cooper is proud of his art work, he likes mixing the colors.
Bubble hands from clean up time!
Our art work, hanging up to dry.
